Revolutionizing Shapewear: Introducing the World's First Plant-Based Solution

High-Performance Smoothing and Sculpting Without Compromising on Sustainability

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles (May 15, 2024) PROCLAIM, known for our earth-friendly and inclusive nude garments, is proud to unveil the world's first plant-based solution in a groundbreaking move away from traditional shapewear constructed from environmentally harmful materials. Crafted from bio-based EVO® sourced from castor beans and bio-based creora® spandex, our innovative shapewear line delivers unparalleled smoothing and sculpting performance while upholding our steadfast commitment to sustainability.

Bid farewell to conventional shapewear crafted from plastics such as nylon and polyester, materials that not only threaten the environment but may also contain harmful chemicals like BPA and PFAS. Recognizing the urgent need for change, PROCLAIM embarked on a mission to develop a revolutionary alternative that prioritizes sustainability and women's health without compromising performance.

After nearly two years of meticulous research and development conducted in collaboration with our Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified factory partner in Portugal, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our game-changing shapewear collection. Set to debut on May 15th, 2024, this innovative line marks a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the fashion industry.

Product Details:

Our debut offering features a mid-thigh bodysuit, available in three inclusive nude tones and classic black. Designed to become a wardrobe staple, this garment lifts and shapes the butt and chest while providing all-over smoothing. The seamless construction gently sculpts in all the right places, ensuring all-day comfort and confidence for the wearer.

Materials:

  • 82% Bio-based EVO® by Fulgar: Derived from renewable castor bean oil, this high-tech yarn offers exceptional performance while minimizing environmental impact. Castor bean plants thrive in arid regions and require minimal water, making them a sustainable choice for textile production.
  • 18% Bio-based creora® Spandex: Made by replacing 30% of petroleum-based resources with bio-based raw materials derived from dent corn, creora® bio-based spandex reduces its carbon footprint by 20% compared to regular spandex production, according to a recent third-party life cycle assessment (LCA).

Founder's Quote:

"Shapewear is a multi-billion dollar and rapidly growing category with a dirty secret - it relies almost exclusively on fossil fuel-based materials like polyester and nylon. These plastic materials are not only bad for the environment due to greenhouse gas emissions and high energy use, but they can also contain chemicals like PFAS and BPA, which are known hormone disruptors for women. I knew we had to make something better."
- Shobha Philips, Founder of PROCLAIM

About PROCLAIM:

Founded in 2017 by Shobha Philips, PROCLAIM is dedicated to creating women's wardrobe essentials in inclusive nude tones with consideration for people and the planet. Shobha's entrepreneurial journey began with a personal frustration: the lack of nude undergarments that matched her brown skin as a South Asian woman. This gap in the market, coupled with her commitment to addressing climate change and exploitative labor practices in fashion, which disproportionately affect communities of color, fueled her mission to create PROCLAIM. Shobha's vision extends beyond clothing, it's about making women of all shapes, sizes, and skin tones feel seen and represented in the world.

PROCLAIM has been featured in publications such as SELF, Essence, ELLE, Who What Wear, and The Zoe Report, highlighting the brand's innovative approach to sustainable fashion, with critics applauding its commitment to environmental responsibility and its ability to deliver stylish, eco-conscious solutions for modern consumers.

Ethically focused, inclusivity-minded, and bold, PROCLAIM's garments are comfortable enough for all-day wear, but also provide a seamless look that is functional with (and as) any wardrobe staple" - GLAMOUR
